Comments
Sandford Row is on the OS map of 1894, as is the school. The road no longer exists, although Trafalgar Street to the S does. The school building survives and is now part of Walworth Academy Lower School. This is a middle Bailey school in the grand and beefy style on an I plan, with one wing unbuilt (the glazed bricks indicate landings on the unconstructed section). The built wing features unusual stepped gables. The central block has a hall façade reminscent of Ivydale Road School, although the rooftop playground results in a squarer overall handling of the masses.
